Medicare Advantage PPO Plans

A PPO is a type of insurance plan that offers flexibility and fairly comprehensive coverage in exchange for a higher monthly premium. With a PPO, the insurance companies have made arrangements with certain providers and hospitals. These preferred providers will provide care at a specific rate. While these providers are preferred, patients can still get care outside of this network and be covered to a certain extent.

Advantages and Disadvantages of a PPO

The advantage of a PPO is flexibility. It saves people money by making certain providers in-network, but it also allows patients to be seen by out-of-network providers. While you’ll pay more out-of-pocket with out-of-network providers, the PPO will still at least pay for some of the visits. This is especially important for travel or emergency-related care.

The main disadvantage of a PPO is the higher cost. The monthly premiums are generally high, as are the copays.

Summary

Medicare Advantage PPOs are flexible and comprehensive. While that flexibility is in exchange for a higher premium, it also offers more coverage for unforeseen circumstances. To learn more about whether a PPO plan is right for you, contact us at Modern Senior Benefits today.
